Tuscarora RC Club Minutes

From February 6, 2017 meeting. 12 members were present.

President Walt Basiago called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM in the meeting room of the Tuscarora State Park Office.

Joe St Onge led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance.

President Walt Basiago asked for the minutes to be read. The minutes from the January 2017 meeting were read. Walt asked if there were any additions or corrections. There were none. Joe St Onge made a motion to accept the minutes as read. Bill Huegel second the motion.

Kathy Basiago gave the Treasurer's Report. Walt asked if there were any questions. There were none
. Bernie Wargo made a motion to accept the treasurer's report as read. Jim Dunn seconded the motion.

Old Business:  Laurel Mall Show

The Certificate of Insurance for the mall show has been received. It was then emailed to the mall management. We will set up in the same area in the Boscov wing as last year. Mall hours Saturday are 10 AM to 9 PM. Set up Saturday will be at 9 AM. Sunday’s hours are 11 AM to 6 PM.


Walt Basiago asked if everyone had received the newsletter and 2017 schedule.


Walt Basiago asked if anyone had more information on where to send the memorials for Bobby Francis and Bob Greenall who had passed away in 2016. Nothing had been noted in the obituaries. At the January meeting it had been suggested that memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society as both members had passed away due to cancer. Bernie Wargo made a motion that $100 be sent to the American Cancer Society in memory of Bobby Francis and Bob Greenall and a note be sent to the members family regarding the memorial. Jim Dunn seconded the motion.

New Business: Aerorama

In order to advertise all aircraft welcome at Aerorama, Walt Basiago asked members if they wished to establish a waiver to allow turbines at Aerorama. Jim Dunn made a motion to allow turbine aircraft at Aerorama. Tim Vincent second the motion. The vote was unanimous.

Club Safety Officer

As Ron Schwartz has moved out of the area, Walt Basiago asked for a member to set up for the position. This position is required to be filled to renew the charter. Jim Dunn volunteered. This is an appointed position. There was no opposition from the members in attendance.

Club Supporters

Bill Huegel asked what type of recognition is given to the businessmen who support the club. Walt indicated that Walter’s Hardware and Denise’s R/C Outlet are mentioned on the tickets, signs indicating the source of the raffle prizes are displayed and business cards are set out at the mall show, and both men are given honorary membership.

Grass Cutting

Nancy Stevens made mention that as this is Walt’s last year to cut grass need to think about grass cutting in 2018. Will be necessary to research grass cutting fees for 2018 and have discussion on options.

As there was no more business to be discussed, Tim Vincent made a motion to adjourn. President Walt Basiago adjourned the meeting at 7:29 PM.
